In 1965, the city of Atlanta, GA, was graced with the birth of Van Stiefel, a future pioneer in the guitar music domain. His innovative fusion of various musical styles, improvisation techniques, electric guitar mastery, and the avant-garde application of interactive technologies have made him an iconic figure in contemporary music. Operating from Avondale, PA, he has developed an extensive portfolio as a composer, guitarist, producer, and author, contributing over fifty original compositions to the modern musical canon.
Sparked by his early exposure to the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour, his passion for music was ignited, leading to a ukulele gift from his parents at the age of three. This early musical endeavor was further nurtured at six when his father began teaching him the guitar, setting him on a path toward musical innovation. Participation in the Atlanta Boy Choir expanded his musical horizons, introducing him to classical music and providing performance opportunities in England, Italy, and the United States.
Embarking on a formal music education, he studied classical guitar at Maple Street Guitars in Atlanta. This paved the way to Yale College, where he was awarded the Cox Prize for Music Composition.
